Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Invest flask
   • Prepare and check materials
   • Select and prepare casting methods, tools and equipment
   • Assemble flask for casting
   • Mix investment and prepare curing stage
2. Determine job requirements
   • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
3. Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
4. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
5. Identify job requirements from specifications, job sheets or work instructions
   • Prepare and check materials
6. Select and prepare casting methods, tools and equipment
7. Assemble flask for casting
8. Mix investment and prepare curing stage
9. Operate ‘lost wax’ sequence and clean site
   • Evacuate ‘low melt’ wax by steam process
10. Position and store investment flask
11. Select and apply 'burn-out' procedure
12. Clean tools, equipment and site area
